Roberto “Cyborg” Abreu, a renowned BJJ competitor and the creator of “Fight Sports,” has recently reached a significant milestone. He has got a promotion to the rank of 5th degree BJJ black belt!
He was promoted to the 5th degree Brazilian Jiu Jitsu belt by Alexandre Pimentel:

Extremely Grateful for such beautiful journey so far and ready for so much more.
Cyborg’s BJJ journey comprises steady victories since he first earned his black belt in 2004. His BJJ career includes remarkable performances in both gi and no-gi contests. However, he has won more fights in the no-gi field. His expertise and commitment have maintained his position at the top of significant competitions. It includes ADCC and the IBJJF No-Gi World Championship for over a decade.
Despite experiencing an interruption in 2022, he still competes against elite grapplers in different promotions. It was the time when Abreu lost his 8th IBJJF No-Gi World Championship title due to a positive PED test. It led to a three-year exclusion from IBJJF events. However, he continued competing and showcased his best BJJ skills.
He has also expressed his determination to make a comeback to the IBJJF tournament after his suspension. He will have the goal of matching Caio Terra’s record of 10 championships.
