Ilima-Lei Macfarlane is a renowned BJJ female fighter who has competed in many popular mixed martial competitions. Recently, her coach, Richie Boogeyman Martinez, promoted her to the rank of BJJ black belt.
Career Beginning
Ilima-Lei Macfarlane began her career back in 2014. She won five consecutive BJJ fights during the first year of her career. It was an achievement for her as a beginner in BJJ. After making a record of 5-0, she properly pursued a BJJ career in 2015.
First Fight
As a professional fighter, she won the fight against Katie Castro in her very first fight. After winning the match, she was invited to the Bellator Fighting Championship. She succeeded in getting a higher place in the BJJ community at such an early age. In 2017, she received her first title after winning four consecutive matches.
She was defeated by Juliana Velasquez in 2020 after an 11-fight winning streak and four successful titles.

Macfarlane has made a grappling record. She made 2-1 in grappling when she was EBI flyweight champion. Now, she has started preparing herself to retake her title.In August 2023, she was awarded a black belt in 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu San Diego, thus becoming a 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu black belt.
