Mark Zuckerberg – Meta CEO Shocked Everyone By Winning 2 Medals In Jiu Jitsu Gi Tournament

MARK ZUCKERBERG

Mark Zuckerberg has once again left his fans shocked by winning two medals in the hard jiu jitsu gi tournaments. He is the legendary man behind the meta platforms and Facebook.

He told the audience about his BJJ practice when he was invited to Joe Rogan’s podcast channel, PowerfulJRE, in 2022. BJJ is what gets him through the challenging days. He even used the word “primal” to describe the gentle art.

However, Mark Zuckerberg even participated in the BJJ events this year and won both rounds. On May 6, he participated in the Silicon Valley High School 2023 BJJ Tournament held in California. In the lightweight division, Mark Zuckerberg got second position in the jiu jitsu Gi competition and first position in the No Gi competition, getting silver and gold medals. He competed while representing the Guerrilla Jiu-Jitsu squad.

After winning the medals, Mark Zuckderberg has given the statement about his jiu jitsu likings and his training as:

“I really like watching UFC for example, but I also like doing the sport. It’s because I have a connection to it. Since COVID, I got super into surfing and foiling, and then really into MMA. I know a lot of people who do it. There’s actually this really interesting connection between people who surf and do Jiu-Jitsu, and I basically collected a bunch of recommendations, ran them by a bunch of people who I know, and I trained with this guy Dave Camarillo – Guerilla Jiu Jitsu – the crazy thing is, it really is the best sport.”

Training And Supervision

Mark Zuckerberg has been practicing BJJ gi since 2022. However, this year, he rolled out on the mat for the first time. He got his BJJ training under the supervision of Dave Camarillo, a Judo and BJJ Black Belt known for his distinctive fighting method, Guerrilla Jiu-Jitsu. Mark Zukerberg himself is a White Belt in BJJ gi.

Celebrities Setting The Jiu Jitsu Trend

Celebrities are increasingly practicing and taking part in BJJ competitions. However, we can definitely say that this trend is worth the hype due to all the leverages Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners get because of jiu jitsu gi. The American rapper Wiz Khalifa is ready to make his BJJ debut. Actor Tom Hardy, a BJJ Blue Belt, was also spotted competing in BJJ. This is a positive change for the jiu jitsu gi that even celebrities are interested in. It will let the public know the worth of BJJ and motivate them to participate actively.
