ADCC 2024 Has Issued Additional Invites to Fill Spots Left by CJI Exodus

In the recent development for the upcoming ADCC 2024, the organizers have announced four additional invites to top-tier grapplers worldwide. This action is a reaction to the recent exit of several prominent competitors who chose to participate in the Craig Jones Invitational.  CJI – an emerging event offering transparency and a grand prize of 1 million dollars, plus 10,001 dollars for every participant.

Rumors about other eminent competitors suggest that they may transition to CJI. Significantly, whispers (from BJJEE’s trustworthy informants) have emerged regarding talks with legends. This includes Kron Gracie, Buchecha, Makenzie Dern, and even the famed Marcelo Garcia, who will participate in either one of the brackets or in superfights.

ADCC 2024 has declared four additional invites, incorporating top-notch talent into the lineup.

Giancarlo Bodoni

Bodoni, the current champion in the under 88 kg category, is set to defend his title. His remarkable debut at ADCC 2022 saw him clinch the title in his weight class, an uncommon achievement for a competitor. Bodoni secured his first invitation by emerging victorious at the ADCC North American East Coast Trials 2021 and is now tasked with defending his title against fresh Trials winners.

Mateusz Szczecinski

In his second time, Szczecinski made a significant mark at ADCC 2022, recording a 1-1 score in the under 77kg category. He made a memorable impression by defeating William Tackett in the initial round. Szczecinski is determined to build on this performance and establish himself among the global elite.

Oliver Taza

Taza, a seasoned competitor and teammate of Bodoni, will be participating in the under 77kg category. He is recognized for his consistent top finishes in ADCC Trials, having secured numerous medals in North American and European Trials in the past two years. Taza brings a wealth of experience, having participated in ADCC 2017, 2019, 2022, and 2024.

Nathiely De Jesus

De Jesus, the only female among the recent invitees, will compete in the over 65 kg category. She is returning to ADCC following her 2019 appearance, during which she emerged as one of the leading competitors in her weight division. De Jesus aims to clinch her first ADCC title, having missed the 2022 event.

These additions are expected to bring thrill and top-notch competition to ADCC 2024.

ADCC’s Response To The CJI Shift

The extra invitations underscore ADCC’s dedication to upholding a superior level of competition and featuring the finest talent in the grappling universe. The Craig Jones Invitational, which draws numerous top-tier athletes, is a testament to ADCC’s strategy of inviting new competitors to keep the tournament as esteemed and competitive as always.

These additions are expected to introduce new dynamics and exhilaration to ADCC 2024, guaranteeing electrifying face-offs and demonstrating the sport’s talent depth. Fans can anticipate high-quality grappling performances as these newly invited athletes gear up to leave their imprint on the ADCC platform.

Keep an eye out for more updates as ADCC 2024 nears. Excitement is mounting for what is set to be a milestone event in the competitive grappling world.
