Nick Rodriguez challenged former teammate Gordon Ryan to a bout while staking $100,000. However, Ryan turned down the offer. He hasn’t had much luck getting a third fight against former Danaher Death Squad partner Gordon Ryan. Nick Rodriguez is still looking for this fight.
In grappling contests, Rodriguez has previously lost twice to Ryan. The first time was effectively via submission (heel hook) at ADCC 2022. However, the second time, he lost by a referee decision at UFC Fightpass last year.
Neither Rodriguez nor Ryan has ever won an MMA match; Rodriguez is now challenging Ryan to an MMA bout.
Rodriguez mentioned: “I’m calling out Gordon, but he’s scared.”
Rodriguez defeated the defending ADCC absolute champion, Yuri Simoes, by a score at the UFC Fight Pass Invitational 5 on Sunday. After his contest, Rodriguez suggested that Ryan and he split the $50,000 prize money for a fight.
Ryan answered questions from the media following the event and discussed Rodriguez’s challenge. The former ADCC champion turned down the suggested match:
“Nicky Rod and that whole team make their career off soundbites from me, so, no comment. Not interested in that at all.”
Ryan, who has already defeated Rodriguez twice in the competition, is now concentrating on going up against Mason Fowler.
